The Moillard family a long history in Nuits St Georges and has owned vineyards in Burgundy dating back to 1789, before the French Revolution, and is one of the last wine major producers in Burgundy that is still family owned.
The winery has grown through the years and today the estate wines represent some of the best of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, while the negociant activity allows them to complete their range with some wonderful finds in villages or fields where they are not vineyard owners. Today the 4th, 5th and 6th generation of the Thomas-Moillard family operates the entire operation from viticulture through to winemaking and international distribution. The Burgundies from Moillard tend to be big wines that develop over a long period of time as they age and develop complex characteristics. “Underrated Nuits-St-George Estate... making full range including dark and very tasty wines.” Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book 2004. |
