At 39.2 degrees, Southern latitude, in Argentine Patagonia, wines coming from one of the world’s most Southern regions are made by Humberto Canale. We are referring to the High Valley of the Río Negro. Its special climate, where nights are very cold and days intensely sunny, as well as its climatic amplitude, mainly during the 20 days previous to harvest, are ideal factors for the fine grape varieties development. The province of Río Negro is located in the Northern part of Patagonia. It has a surface of 49,422,000 acres and around 420,000 inhabitants.  The Negro River is the continuation of the Limay River, wich has its origins in the Andes Mountains. It goes across Patagonia and flows into the atlantic Ocean. Along its course, it gives birth to fertile valleys, where there are several agricultural and cattle farms, real oasis in the middle of these wasted lands.

In 1909 the Humberto Canale winery was founded by the engineer who gave it his name. He played an important part in the development of the Upper Valley, giving the industry an ananonymous profile which hardly changed with the founding of small, individual wineries in a region that possesed a special terroir that gave birth to very characteristic wines.

Today the winery is headed by Guillermo Barzi Canale, aided by a highly qualified team of professionals in the agricultural and industrial fields. In addition, international respected advisors such as Raul de Mota, add their expertise to ensure the very best results are achieved in this cool climate area.
